I’m BAAAACK¬†…

Well, I have to admit that I have probably set the record for the longest break from a “daily” blog post. Many of you probably wondered if I would ever return. To be honest, so did I! ūüôā Once you get out of a routine, it is sure hard to get back into it. If it had not been for the prodding of many people (including being given the assignment yesterday to “post on your blog!!” from my daughter), my break may¬†have continued.

Life has been crazy and it amazes me that I have not posted in¬†3 months! It all started with my visit to China where I was without access to most of the internet pages that I needed – WordPress, YouTube, Facebook – and so I was not able to post. I returned¬†home to the holidays, kids home from school, vacations, medical issues, and … here we are today.

So, I am taking the plunge and starting to write again. I have NOT taken a break from music over these last few months, so I still have a lot to share with you.¬†Thanks for sticking with me and I hope this song let’s you know that I am still here and “I’m Good!”

I have posted songs by The Mowgli’s before and I love their sound. They are just so cool and their music makes me happy. This song really resonated with me – I love the beat and the lyrics are fantastic too. This is their new single from their upcoming album, Kids in Love. The single is available now and the album has an¬†expected release date in early April. Enjoy!

SONG OF THE DAY – “YOUR FRIEND” by The Mowgli’s

Here is a great new song by The Mowgli’s. The song is from the soundtrack for the new movie,¬†Earth to Echo. I have not seen the movie yet, but the pictures remind me of one of our old favorites, ET. I think every generation needs an ET. ūüôā

We had a great weekend with some old friends that we knew when we lived in southern California years ago and who now live in NYC. It is so fun to maintain old friendships and to be able to reconnect. It is incredibly refreshing to have friends who knew me¬†in a different time of my life and who knew my kids when they were little. It just adds such a nice dimension to always being new and having a short history with people.¬†So, having friends on my mind today, this song just seemed to be fitting. Here is a shout out to all my friends … new and old, but particularly the old ones today (which I guess is just about everyone). I miss you and I am grateful for our history.

Have a great week!

Happy New Year!

It is 10:00 p.m. where I am sitting, so just a couple more hours left of 2013. I can’t believe how quickly the year passed. So many exciting things happened this year! It will be a year full of many memories for me, but I am looking forward to creating new ones in 2014.

It was difficult to pick just one song today from so many favorites, but this song was probably the most memorable song of the year. I am certain it is not new to most of you, but can you seriously think of 2013 without thinking of Thrift Shop? Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were a phenomenon in 2013!

For the last few days I have been posting songs by some of my favorite new musical finds of 2013. To finish that up – on this last night of the year – I wanted to post a list of my favorite “new to me” bands and artists of 2013. ¬†Drum roll, please …. ¬†Here is my list:

I enjoyed so much good music over the year from a multitude of artists, but I discovered all of these artists in 2013 and they instantly became favorites and people that I will be keeping my eye on. I hope that you were able to discover and enjoy great music this year as well, and I am looking forward to sharing the musical journey with you in 2014.

And as I mentioned a couple days ago, my favorite album of the year was “Native” by OneRepublic.

¬†Music brings me joy and I am looking forward to a joyful year full of love, friendship, adventure, and … of course … MUSIC!

SONG OF THE DAY – “SAY IT, JUST SAY IT” by The Mowgli’s

I am posting very late today. It is a busy time of the year and it seems like this if the first chance I have had to sit down and think about which song I wanted to share today.

Today I am sharing a song that I really enjoy from a band called The Mowgli’s. When I first heard their name, I was certain that they had named themselves after the Jungle Book character. In actuality, they named themselves after one of the band member’s dogs, but the dog was named after Mowgli from Jungle Book … so that counts.

The Mowgli’s are an eight-piece alternative rock band from Southern California, with a breezy sound, who broke out on Billboard’s Alternative charts this year with their song, “San Francisco”. The song that I am posting today is from their album, Waiting For The Dawn, released earlier this year; it is probably my favorite song off the album. It is a very catchy tune with adorable lyrics. Hope you enjoy this one and check out the band if you are not familiar with them. “The Mowgli‚Äôs have set out to win your heart and save the world with love, laughter, and hand claps.”

For those who asked, my husband did make it safely home on Saturday night, although the drive from the airport to home was the most treacherous part of his journey. While driving at a snail’s pace, they passed an overturned semi-truck on the icy roads of I-95. I was glad that he made it home safe and sound.
