I can listen to this song over and over again and I think it makes me emotional every single time. This is an amazingly raw, beautiful, and heart wrenching song by rising artists Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino of the musical duo, A Great Big World.

The lyrics of this song are incredibly powerful – they just emote love, heartbreak, frustration, and despair. Who hasn’t been there?

You may have heard this song on the television show, The Voice. The song was performed on that show on November 5 with Christina Aguilera singing with them. Although I did not see it, from everything I have read, it sounds like the song jumped to #1 on iTunes soon after the performance. Pretty amazing! I love their original version the best and so that is what I have attached on this post.

When I first saw Ian Axel on a YouTube video (Fall On Me), he reminded me so much of Ben Folds – another favorite of mine. It was funny to watch an interview with A Great Big World on On Air With Ryan Seacrest where Ian talks about being compared to Ben Folds, because I had not heard that comparison before, at least not outside of my own head. 😉 I am hoping that they record the song “Fall On Me” because it is another great one.

These two lads met while attending NYU. Having a daughter currently attending college, it strikes me what an important time of life those years are for an individual’s life path. I don’t know that I have ever been more aware of that than I am now. Lucky that these two young men just happened to find each other at the right place and the right time. Things do happen for a reason … you just have to keep your eyes and heart open to it!
