Halloween 2013
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I thought this song was perfect for today, particularly with the Zombie fascination over the last few years. 🙂 I have to admit, Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. Autumn is my favorite time of year and I love all the fall decorations, but Halloween … not so much. I realize that for many people, Halloween is their favorite time of the year. I think some people really like the idea of spooky things, but more than that, I believe that there are people who just love to have an excuse to dress in costume. I am always amazed by the incredible creativity out there and the elaborate lengths that people go to for the perfect costume. I’m impressed!
For about 8 years, I truly enjoyed the holiday – during the years when my children were little. It was such fun to dress them up, attend the school costume parades, visit the Pumpkin Patch, and show them off around the neighborhood during trick-or-treating. But, those years passed [too] quickly and then my apathy about the holiday returned. Favorite costumes: For my son, it was definitely Sully. He was the cutest furry monster I have ever seen! He also made a great 2 year old cowboy … cowboy boots and all. For my daughter, she was always so determined about what she “HAD” to be and those costumes were always the most difficult. I created the perfect Tooth Fairy costume, complete with a toothbrush wand, wings, and toothpaste crown. The year she wanted to be a lion was a challenge. Who knew that a lion costume would be so difficult to find! I finally bought a Simba costume and we added a bow – because she had to be a GIRL lion. 🙂 I have to admit, she also made a darling cowgirl too.
