It’s Throwback Thursday! Today’s #tbt song is one of my favorite songs of all time by one of my favorite musical groups of all time. This song was originally released in 1975 on the self-titled album, Fleetwood Mac.

Growing up, Fleetwood Mac was my favorite group and I knew every word to every song … actually I still do.

I decided to post a song from them today because they just started a reunion tour (On With the Show) and everyone is back this time, including Christine McVie. Earlier this week, the band played at Madison Square Garden and, although I was not able to attend, I am dying to see them perform live during their reunion tour. If I was picking one band that I have always wanted to see live, they would be at the top of my list. It sounds like I will be lucky because, just this morning, they announced that they are expanding their reunion tour and adding 28 more shows, including a return to NYC. If you are an American Express holder, it sounds like tickets will be available on October 13; otherwise, they go on sale October 20. I plan not to miss it!

After listening to them perform live today on the Today Show, I have to admit that I still love Fleetwood Mac and their music. It was a difficult decision to choose just one song by them because they have so many good ones, but I have always loved this incredible song. They lyrics have such deep meaning and emotion and I love the guitar rhythms – just an awesome song. I also have to say, Steve Nicks’ voice is still as amazing as ever.

I am so excited! Tonight I am off to see Sting and Paul Simon in concert at Madison Square Garden. I have had the tickets for months, and I am really looking forward to finally getting to see them live. I have been a fan of these two artists nearly my entire life, and their music holds a special place in my heart.

It was difficult to pick just one song today because I love so much of the music from both of these men … both as soloists and in their previous groups. Who doesn’t love Simon & Garfunkel and The Police? I grew up on that music and still love it. I finally decided to pick my very favorite song by Sting. I know you probably know this song, but I hope you won’t mind listening to it again. I think it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and I love the haunting sound and lyrics. I think Sting is one of the coolest guys in the music industry.

Okay, heading to the train in about 10 minutes … so excited!

It was easy for me to come up with my Throwback Thursday song today. Earlier this week it was announced that Billy Joel was coming back in January to do a show at Madison Square Garden in NYC!
.
Within 24 hours, after incredible demand for pre-sale tickets, two more shows were quickly announced. Tickets do not even go on sale to the general public until Saturday morning, but it is clear that all three shows will most certainly be sellouts! This is Billy Joel’s first solo show since 2006 when he performed a record-breaking 12 consecutive sold out shows here in NYC. I can’t wait to get my hands on tickets first thing Saturday morning!
**UPDATE: A 4th show was just added at 10 am this morning!**
.
To give you an idea of his popularity here in New York, in early October I heard on the radio one morning that Billy Joel had just announced a surprise charity concert in Long Island for the next night. The show sold out in 15 minutes!
.
Who doesn’t love the Piano Man? He is one of the most beloved and celebrated musicians of all time, and he has a biography filled with remarkable accomplishments. I grew up on his music and when I look at pictures of his album covers, I remember that between my two older sisters and myself, we had almost all of those albums in our home.
.
Funny story … I remember my oldest sister coming home when she was in high school (she is 5 years older than me) and telling us a story about the song “My Life.” She had a friend who pulled out the song to play for his mother, trying to make a point that it was his life. She listened to the song and said, “That’s nice, honey.” Haha! Lyrics of songs can mean something extremely powerful to some, and to others it is just “a nice song.” Needless to say, his point was not received. 😉
.
I have played Billy Joel music in our home forever, but I introduced this song, Vienna, to my daughter in 2009 when she was 13 years old. This song just screams her name. The lyrics are incredible and, to this day, she would still describe it as the one song she most relates to herself. Such an amazing song! But, what song of Billy Joel’s isn’t amazing? I play one, and then I want to listen to Piano Man, then Big Shot, then Movin’ Out, then Honesty, then You May Be Right, and then … and then …
.
See you soon Piano Man!

I am so excited!  I just purchased my tickets today for an incredible conert.  If you have not yet heard, Paul Simon and Sting are teaming up to go on tour together early next year.  I just got my tickets for the show at Madison Square Garden in NYC.  The best part of this show is that they will both perform individually with their own bands, and then they will perform together on stage as well.  I love both of these artists; loved them when they were with their previous groups (Simon & Garfunkel and The Police) and as soloists.  I wanted to use one of their songs today and I chose this one because it is truthfully one of my favorite music videos of all time. Enjoy!
